SUSTAINABILITY
THE LONGTERM PERSPECTIVE
Everything we do has an impact on the environment around us and the people and animals that inhabit it. As an outdoor company, we’re acutely aware of this impact and we do our utmost to keep our environmental footprint as small as possible. In paralell the products we develop are built to last for decades of use, to then be passed on to the next generation or be sold on the second hand market. That way, fewer products will be produced, less energy will be consumed and less products will end up as waste. But we can always do better. Sustainability is a special kind of trekking. There are many checkpoints, but no finish line.
Fjällräven CSR Report
The latest info regarding our business operations from a sustainability perspective.
The materials we use
Functional materials with as little impact on the environment as possible.
Production
The Fjällräven Code of Conduct covers human rights, animal welfare, environmental protections, sustainable development and anti-corruption, and it is not negotiable.
Our Promises
The animal derived materials we use (down, wool, leather) are guaranteed free from any animal mistreatment.
Chemical Guidelines and Restricted Substances
Making sure we are not using harmful substances is very important to us. That’s why we work with third party research institutes to always keep us up to date.
Design
We research; we sketch; we create samples; we test; we iterate and adjust; we test some more. Our design process isn’t short.
Material requirements
When considering a material we evaluate its efficiency, functional qualities, chemical composition and the amount we’ll need before making a choice.
Care and Repair
Products built to last for a lifetime of wear, need to be built for easy clean and repair too.
Arctic Fox Initiative
Awarding non-profit organisations with grants each year. All organisations have the goal of protecting our environment or inspiring people to spend time in nature.
